The Lawn Canggu

The Lawn sits on Jl. Pura Dalem at Batu Bolong, one of Canggu’s original beach clubs and part of the Project Black group. A lawn of white Balinese umbrellas, sofas, beanbags and day beds runs down to a shallow pool right beside the beach, with steps straight onto the black sand and the surf breaks in front.

There is no entry charge; seating works on minimum spends. Poolside chairs, terrace seats and beanbags are IDR 350,000 per person, a single poolside sofa IDR 1,000,000 per table, a palm-tree sofa IDR 2,000,000 and a day bed IDR 2,500,000 per table. Book through the club’s website or WhatsApp, but note that no reservations are taken from 4pm to 7pm, when it is walk-in only.

The mood is chilled rather than a full-on party, and it fills up fast for sunset, when most of the front seats are gone by about 5pm. It suits couples and friends who want a Canggu sunset with a swim. Expect a bag check at the door, and leave selfie sticks and bottled water behind.
