Shangri-La Mactan sits on its own stretch of white-sand beach at Punta Engaño, the northeastern tip of Mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu City. Day visitors get the beach, with its roped-off swimming area and white parasols, the resort's pools and the marine sanctuary just offshore.
Non-guests come in on the Beach Buddies Explorer Day Pass, which runs daily from 9am to 6pm. It costs PHP 2,000 net per adult on weekdays and PHP 2,500 at weekends, with children aged 6 to 12 at PHP 1,000 and under-sixes free (one per paying adult). Book at least 24 hours ahead and wait for the resort's confirmation; payment is taken at the Health Club.
The pass includes badminton, table tennis, archery, water volleyball, water basketball and mini golf, plus 10% off non-motorised water sports. There are no DJs: this is a quiet family day by the sea rather than a party club. Weekdays are cheaper and calmer, and food and drink are paid for separately.
Bed prices and opening times move with the seasons, so confirm with the club before you set off.
